Why VolunteerUP exists

Nonprofits do some of the most important work in our communities. They feed families, build homes, mentor young people, and show up when it matters most. But too often, the tools available to them are either too expensive, too complex, or built with profit, not purpose, in mind.

VolunteerUP exists to change that. We believe the organizations doing the hardest work deserve tools that are simple, affordable, and built with genuine care for what they do.

Our story

VolunteerUP has over 20 years of history serving nonprofit organizations. It began as a tool for Habitat for Humanity affiliates who needed a better way to manage their people: scheduling, check-in, hours tracking, reporting. The basics, done well.

What started as a tool for a few Habitat affiliates has grown into a platform used by nonprofit organizations across the country, from Habitat chapters to churches, youth programs, and community service organizations. The technology has evolved from legacy systems to a modern, mobile-ready platform, but the focus has stayed the same: practical tools for the people doing the work.

VolunteerUP is now operated by LangShan Consulting LLC, which became its owner in 2024. We are a small, independent team, not a venture-backed startup chasing growth metrics. We build and support the platform directly, and every decision is guided by what helps our customers succeed.

Real people, real support

Debbie Pyles

For many years, our customer service was led by Debbie Pyles — a real person who personally used VolunteerUP as a Volunteer Services Manager at her local Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Colorado. She understood the work because she lived it.

Debbie retired in 2024 after nearly two decades with VolunteerUP, but her legacy lives on: real people, real support, and a genuine understanding of what nonprofit teams need.
